New! Haumana Cruises & Villa Ixora

Spotlight on the Leeward Islands

At last, an alternative to sailing catamaran mini-cruises… After a few years of rest, we are excited to announce that the Haumana  – or “Spirit of Peace” – is heading back to sea!
A vessel with a small capacity, refurbished & redecorated, with just 12 cabins for a maximum 26 passengers, from March to December it will offer 4Day/3Night Cruises to Bora Bora – Tahaa – Raiatea and the reverse, with the main focus on Polynesian Experience: bilingual staff speaking

English/French at a minimum, 100% local atmosphere and activities, such as dance, music, weaving, visit to a vanilla farm, a pearl farm, etc.

Fine food on board, served by a selection of wine, but also a Barbecue Lunch on a private beach, a Polynesian dinner-show ashore, and the much appreciated breakfast “feet in the water” so dear to Haumana Cruises. Find all the details HERE.

As a pre- or post-cruise on Raiatea, check out Villa Ixora, the latest adventure by Laure & Terence, the former managers of a high-end boutique hotel on Tahaa. Now established on Raiatea, they have taken over a modest pension, which they have fully remodeled in a contemporary, cozy style.
4 warm, well-appointed mid-range bungalows, with 3 Garden units & 1 Lagoon unit, located 10 minutes from the airport, and just 5 minutes from Uturoa pier.
As for your taste buds, Terence gives free rein to his creativity and offers gourmet French cuisine in the lovely setting of a covered patio overlooking the swimming pool. Also open to outside customers, this is one additional great dining spot to discover on the Sacred Island… so if you are just passing through or staying for a while, do not hesitate to visit them!

New! A Faré Spa on Vahine Island

Relax & Enjoy

The neighboring private motu Miki Miki, also property of Hotel Vahine Island on Tahaa, is right across the natural channel separating the motu from the hotel. It is in this exceptional environment that the Faré Spa has set down. Built in natural materials and completely open to the lagoon, it is a real haven of peace where you can enjoy a massage, soak in the jacuzzi, or receive a body treatment to the sound of waves and bird songs.

Mini Marquesas Islands Festival 2017

The reawakening of the Marquesan people

Mata’vaa Iti, the Mini Festival of the Marquesas Islands, is held every 4 years, alternating with Mata’vaa, the main arts festival of the Marquesas Islands. The first edition of the Mini Festival was held in 2006 on Tahuata. Now, 11 years later, from 18 to 22 December 2017, the smallest inhabited island of the Marquesas will be once again be seething with excitement! Dances, traditional games, exhibitions, contests, etc. 600 members of various delegations, along with the public, are expected at the end of this year. While the Big Festival has gradually opened up to the other Polynesian archipelagoes, with groups coming from Hawaii, the Samoas, New Zealand, Tahiti, Easter Island, and elsewhere, the Mini Festival features only groups from the Marquesas Islands, with the goal to maintain the Marquesan culture alive around a common theme which, for 2017, is:

“Let us make what we planted bear fruit”.

Interested in the event?
Stay on Hiva Oa… there will be daily boat shuttles available to Tahuata. The family pensions Relais Moehau, Temetiu Village, and Kanahau still have rooms and bungalows available for these dates. Hotel Hanakee Pearl Lodge is offering a full-comfort 4-night package including accommodation, airport transfers, round trip boat transfers to Tahuata, daily access to the Mini Festival sites, full board, and drinks during meals.
The local airline, Air Tahiti, is featuring 2 additional flights on 20 and 22 December 2017 and the mixed cargo vessel Aranui has planned a special Festival cruise 14-27 December 2017, with a full day stopover on the island of Tahuata.

The detailed Festival program is presently being finalized by the organizing committee, and should be available soon. For those who cannot make it this year, see you at the Big Festival on Ua Pou in 2019!

Tāvai Spas of Bora Bora & Taha’a

Since January 1, 2017, the new Pearl Resorts of Tahiti, associated with the real estate holding company, now provide full commercial management of the following hotels: Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa, Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort, Nuku Hiva Keikahanui Pearl Lodge and the Hiva Oa Hanakee Pearl Lodge.

This change implies the de facto name change of the 2 Bora Bora and Taha’a Spas, which are both becoming Tāvai Spas, which in the Tahitian language means means “to anoint,” or “the caress of the water.”
Thus on Bora Bora, the menu already distributed for the former Manea Spa has undergone some changes:

  • +5% on the Maitai relaxation massage
  • +9% on the Coco Otemanu Deluxe Bora treatment
  • Plus a few new items, like the Vaipihapiha rain shower, the 100 min Romantic Rendez-vous treatment and the 3hr20 min Polynesian Delight full spa treatment.

The 2017 Spa Menu for Le Taha’a is also now available.
